Tachibana Dosetsu Guide: Evony New Trap Factory Officer

Tachibana Dosetsu, a Japanese samurai of the Sengoku period, was known as one of the wisest of the Otomo retainers. In Evony, he is a duty general with an Epic Historic quality who can be the Trap Factory Officer. Before his arrival, other Trap Factory Officers included Askia Muhammad I and Otto the Great. This guide will compare their strengths in various areas and provide recommendations for their proper use.

The Story

In 1585, the region of Korasan was engulfed in smoke as Tachibana Dosetsu and his troops waited in the nearby forests to strike a decisive blow against the Ryūzōji army. Despite the enemy’s attempts to cover the battlefield with fire, Dosetsu used the smoke as cover to deceive the enemy and sent a detachment to launch a surprise attack. The detachment feigned a retreat to draw the Ryūzōji army deeper, engaging them briefly before leading them into an encirclement. At this point, Dosetsu’s troops in the forest emerged and launched a devastating attack, causing the Ryūzōji army to scatter in defeat. The battle concluded a few hours later, with Tachibana’s army emerging as the victors.
Tachibana Dosetsu was renowned as one of the bravest and wisest of the Õtomo retainers.

The following conclusions can be drawn from the comparison.
  • Tachibana Dosetsu primarily provides buffs for offensive ranged troops and siege machines (with a slight bonus to rally capacity) while debuffing enemy ranged troops and siege machines. His debuffs mainly weaken the attack power of defensive ranged and siege units. Furthermore, he offers a higher reduction in siege repair cost than the other two generals, but a lower bonus to trap construction speed.
  • Otto the Great’s buffs focus more on in-city troops. He can increase the in-city siege machine attack by up to 80%. He also has a debuff effect on enemy troops, reducing their defense and HP, a benefit lacking in the other two generals. However, his debuffs on enemy ranged and siege units are weaker than Tachibana Dosetsu’s. Moreover, his siege repair cost reduction is the weakest of the three generals. But, his buff on trap construction speed is better than Tachibana Dosetsu, and he has the best bonus to damaged siege machine capacity.
  • Askia Muhammad I has no debuffs against enemy units. His most notable buff is the boost to trap-building speed (up to 120%). Besides, his buffs for your own units mainly target in-city troops. However, his buffs on in-city siege machines are not as good as Otto the Great’s, instead providing the greater defense and HP boosts against in-city ground and mounted troops. Also, he can reduce siege repair cost and increase damaged siege capacity, and the two aspects placed between the other two generals.
In summary, if your city is in the early stage, requiring sufficient traps but not much PvP, we recommend the Askia Muhammad I. As you reach the middle stages and need to balance development and warfare, consider switching to Otto the Great. When your offensive needs far outweigh your defensive needs, we believe the Tachibana Dosetsu is the best choice.
